Nursing Theory to hospice and palliative care nursing. The theory furnishes a foundation for the plan of care and nursing interventions that should be performed on patients requiring end of life care. The concept within this theory that appeals me is “Uniqueness & Otherness.” This focuses on humanistic care that considers the uniqueness of each individual and respects the
Patients’ autonomy (Wu & Volker, 2011). I have seen throughout my nursing career thus far that patients will make their own choices and it’s my job to respect all their wishes and decisions. Sequentially, it is the nurse’s role to provide comfort and compassionate care while supporting those patients and their family members experiencing the last phase of life.
