I do believe that the anger and resentments are counterproductive, because the division and inequality still exist in America. Which implicates that our nation wont undergo any dramatic change in progression overall as a nation, until we learn to live like one. The More Perfect Union speech brought out many points that can support my theory, which Americans should all take into consideration. In the speech, Obama emphasized the importance of unity, thus showing Americans that we should overlook our ethnic backgrounds and join together as one. When Obama said, “This is where we are right now. It's a racial stalemate we've been stuck in for years. Contrary to the claims of some of my critics, black and white, I have never been so naïve as to believe that we can get beyond our racial divisions in a single election cycle, or with a single candidacy - particularly a candidacy as imperfect as my own.” (Obama's March 18, 2008, para. 37). This document founded that all men were created equal. They are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights (life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness). When it was written, the Declaration of Independence guaranteed every man that he shall not be denied certain rights by the government. If our rights were given to us by nature, better yet God, who are we to interfere with what our Lord deemed possible? Who is the government to place regulations on certain unalienable rights? Who are we to judge and regulate the actions of someone due to their race? It isn’t humane, and from my point of view I think a trans-racial society would do this nation much good in the aspect of limiting counterproductive
