The people that society considers overweight are often ridiculed and find themselves as targets for the stigmas that have been placed in the minds of many generations. Personally, I have noticed that the stigmas that we all have placed on those we do not see as “skinny” or “perfect,” come in many different forms. Some people see obesity as a serious health problem, which in some ways it is, but however severe it is, is not something that people should judge them on at first glance. Although, it can be the cause of diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, and other health issues, like mentioned before, sometimes being overweight is not something that a person is in control of. Today’s society is filled with people that tend to be more judgemental about how other people choose to live their own lives, and that is then where the teasing and ridicule show through from the stigmas that the society that we all live in have created. Way back in grade school teachers used to tell us “treat others the way that you would want to be treated,” every time that there was a small disagreement between two students, and looking back, one may wonder why that phrase is not still being spoken as often as you grow
