Objective 6 Reflection

My reflection focuses on objective three and six. I chose objective three because I felt a real connection with in my own life and I really liked that I was able to use some of my personal experiences and prior knowledge to complete the assignments. I was able to develop an understanding of life experiences as shaped by membership in groups based on specifically nationality, socioeconomic status, and religion. The assignments database five, and the first reflection paper are the lessons I chose that relate to objective three. I chose objective six because I was able to take what previous experience I had in the school setting and elaborate the educational experience to include family and community. I was able to attain an understanding of the implications of diversity in school, family and community specifically in the assignments the second reflection paper and the ELA application VCEP with SIOP. These assignments are the lessons that relate especially to objective six.
I feel this class has given me confidence in working with diverse students and I will be able to provide them with a quality, safe, equal education. Simply by being more aware of the effects diversity has on society and trying to help assimilate students and being more empathetic to students, parents, and community members about diversity will be helpful for a successful learning environment. I really liked doing to cultural wheel assignment because it allowed me to be creative, and see how different diversities can be linked together, but my favorite assignment was the Global Education Project.
