In the first video at John Smith Middle school, on Friday, April fifteenth at 12 pm, the classroom observed was in Mrs. Blue’s middle school class. This class was not as ethnically diverse; there were only Caucasian and Hispanics visible. From what was shown there were eleven boys and ten girls. In the second video at Luther High school, on Wednesday, April thirteenth at 11 am, was Mr. G’s high school class. During this quarter, I got an opportunity to become a math tutor for 7th grade students at KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy. This middle school is located at downtown San Diego, it is opposite to a superior court where always have few polices walk around this area and enclosed few apartments which is a pretty safe and quiet area. I found that it is rarely to see a white people in KIPP; Although most of the students in KIPP are from low income family, I felt like I was always energetic when I entered KIPP since most of the students are always happy, active and brisk. For the Infant and Toddler Curriculum class, I was assigned the toddler classroom at Montessori Day School to complete my 24 hours of observation. The classroom had ten children with two teachers. The classroom was divided into four sections by two-shelf bookshelves. There were two tables, large carpets, and small white rugs where the students could take their work to complete. Because Montessori Day School is passionate about the Montessori method, the children do not simply wander the classroom and play with toys. They choose activities that the teachers refer to as “work” to complete. These works help develop the child’s social, emotional, intellectual, and motor skills. The teachers are able to work in groups or provide individualized instruction, so the child can learn at their own pace.…

During my first round of practicum, I went to a kindergarten classroom with around 20 to 25 students in the classroom. I went to Miller Elementary and Mrs. Schuchard was my cooperative teacher. I walked in and was immediately placed with students to work with. In the morning the students were working on their daily five and phonics. One thing that I observed that I found very interesting is that the teacher had two rug areas for meetings. When she needed to teach the children for a longer period of time, she would tell them to move over to the other area in order to make them have a brain break and then refocus. It was very interesting to see how effective just a little amount of movement was for these kindergarteners.…
Officer safety, movement and use of physical space has been preached to students from semester one and it was not until this class that brought its importance to light. In this class, we are able to put everything we have learned in theory from our first semester to now in our forth semester into practical real-world scenarios. During the first round of scenario testing I observed a group that had a male and female officer they were on duty and had calls of a homeless man lingering around the ATM machine asking people for money as they were withdrawing funds. Once again, I was placed in Mrs.Metcalfe who teaches second grade at Bens Branch Elementary. Mrs.Metcalfe took attendance while the students waited patiently on the carpet. After she took attendance, she addressed that she had taken some privileges away from the students because the students did not picked up their mess after having centers and would not follow instructions that the teacher gave. She explained that centers might return for the upcoming school year if they behaved properly. After she addressed the issues of the students, she instructed everyone to go back to their desks and waited till they put their thumbs which meant that they were ready for the lesson of the day.
