Obstacles within a Journey
The characters development is established with physical and psychological aspects throughout the journey. The novel The Kite Runner, Amir achieves redemption by seeking Sohrab and transforming his life. Furthermore, throughout the novel Life of Pi, the relationship between Pi and Richard Parker is established by overcoming multiple barriers. In the same way, the novel The Curious Incident of the Dog and the Night-Time illustrates Christopher difficult moments during his journey to independence. All three novel possesses unique physical and psychological obstacles during each of the journeys.

Christopher enjoys being in empty environments, his main objective is to become an independent individual but his autistic disability prevents him from doing so. As mentioned in the novel “sometimes when I want to be on my own I get into the airing cupboard in the bathroom and slide in beside the boiler and pull the door behind me and sit there and think for hours and it makes me feel very calm” (Haddon 50). Christopher is describing his strategy to control his stress by being alone and unsociable. After Christopher realizes he can no longer trust his father, he decided to travel to London and live with his mother. As stated, “when I am in a new place and there are lots of people there it is even harder because people are not like cows and flowers and grass and they can talk to you and do things that you don't expect…” (Haddon 143).
