Furthermore, throughout the novel Life of Pi, the relationship between Pi and Richard Parker is established by overcoming multiple barriers. In the same way, the novel The Curious Incident of the Dog and the Night-Time illustrates Christopher difficult moments during his journey to independence. All three novel possesses unique physical and psychological obstacles during each of the journeys.

Christopher enjoys being in empty environments, his main objective is to become an independent individual but his autistic disability prevents him from doing so. As mentioned in the novel “sometimes when I want to be on my own I get into the airing cupboard in the bathroom and slide in beside the boiler and pull the door behind me and sit there and think for hours and it makes me feel very calm” (Haddon 50).
