“Honey Pie”

Since Honey Pie is a short story it only revolves with a few number of characters. The characters are Junpei, Sayako, Takatsuki and Sala. According to what I've read Junpei is a 36-year old guy, born and raised in Kobe but now, he has problems with his relationship with his family. When he was in college he was an introvert but in spite of him being an introvert he still managed to make friends and they are Sayako and Takatsuki. Sayako is a simple and pretty girl while Takatsuki is said to be a handsome guy.The three of them studied at Waseda University and all of them entered the Literature Department. Junpei really willed to become a part of that department since he really had this dream of becoming a writer and so did Sayako. But in the case of Takatsuki, he did not really have plans of entering the Literature Department but because it was the only exam that he could pass he had no choice but to enter it. All of them became successful people in the field of literature, most especially Junpei who has written a number of books and won numerous awards. The three of them have a good relationship with each other, they are in fact the closest of friends. Both Junpei and Takatsuki have fell in love with Sayako, but Sayako ended up marrying Takatsuki. They have a daughter named Sala, but later on the two of them divorced due to Takatsuki's unfaithfulness. The plot revolves on all four characters since it talks about their lives and relationship with each other.

The plot is simple and for me it's well-constructed. At first I thought the characters were animals, bears in particular but later on I learned that the bears were only part of Junpei's story for Sala. Junpei's story was cute and it is kind of related to the story of their lives. The story is about friendship and life. It's nice to see that the three of them remained to be friends until the end even though they have problems and untold

This story was very odd but was a good book. The fiction of this story is tied to reality in a very unique way, that is very effective in making the story not feel very fantasy. This feature made the book truly more enjoyable. Other writing techniques like not having any foreshadowing. The book keeps you guessing until the very end. Even within the story parts that I had never seen coming, Like releasing the prince. Allowing Alix to run away and eventually return on curiosity.…

The world spins and never stops and that's the function of society as well. People are always on the go, rarely stopping to think about their own health. Well Cheerios is trying to emphasize the importance of breakfast in order to gain energy that can’t be found on a quick snack. Society is usually on buying fast food and frozen meals because they’re easier to get a hold of when in a rush but that takes the nutritional value of food away. Even though society begins to move toward a more healthy alternative in foods it’s still a struggle. Therefore, Honey Nut Cheerios are implying to society to enjoy every meal like it should be and that the morning should be started with energy. Cheerios makes the healthy choice taste as if it weren’t and that's…

In this story in particular, the characters leave you speechless with their actions. This story has a flow due to how the characters talk. They talk with improper grammar, but that’s what makes it unique.”Ain’t nothing wrong with that is it?” Raheem and the narrator have a lot of mini fights, because Raheem is skipping school and “checking” out other girls. “His eyes crawl over to them good girls.” The author doesn’t give us a lot of knowledge about the narrator; though I’d prefer if she did. This will allow us readers to connect to the story more. Overall I think the characters are a perfect fit to the story.…

The only aspect that bothers me a bit is that the story seems a bit jumbled; events that spread years apart are put together in one page, and then a few paragraphs later, the story flies back to third grade memories.I find myself desperately trying to reorient myself, but sometimes I simply cannot and have to reread the whole page.…

There are some appealing traits to the plot of the book, the settings and the characters. Some of the interesting traits about the characters is the way they’re all trying to be tough. The character Jamal Hicks is the main character, his brother went to jail and left him man of the house. Jamal is now trying to bail his brother out of jail, so joins the gang his brother use to work with to make money. Jamal has a best friend named Tito, and Tito is willing to follow Jamal through the most dangerous adventures of his life. Tito is really scared but he always finds the courage to be there for his best friend. “You can go I don’t …” (page 37). In this quote Tito is passed his curfew and wants to go home but he decides to stay and with Jamal. The setting of the story is in an old ghetto town in Chicago where everyone is trying to survive and most of the kids are involved in gangs. The good thing about the plot is that is placed in a way that cuts straight to the point of the story.…

All of the characters in the story are very likeable, except for the main characters which are the protagonist and the antagonist. In paragraph three, sentence three the author wrote “And right when I go tell her she better not think about looking my way.” Here you can see that the narrator takes her anger out too much on the three girls at her bus stop. This is a good family movie that can show the viewer’s how some people prey on one another. This movie reminded me of the times my brother and I didn’t get along. It shows how different families are and how they treat one another. Sadly this movie also shows how family members can be so cold blooded. This movie duplicates real life situations where innocent People get hurt, family loyalty gets divided and couples end up in divorce.…

Not at all what I expected. I loved the story, from beginning to end. I was elated then sad, then elated then sad again. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster. To be utterly poor, to unbelievably wealthy and to hell and back again, all in search of his love. This was a totally cool story. Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. I loved the way the story ended, with each and every one of them, learning to live with what they have and that what little they have is enough, especially after what they had all been through. Thinking one and the other was dead only to find them alive again, and in the end, just learning to appreciate one another’s company and to “cultivate their garden”. All of their life lessons learned, really gave them some introspect as to what life really has to offer and what is truly important to them. This story was amazing. I wanted him to go back to El Dorado if he were able to find his way back. I kept…
