Odeon Cinema Pestle Analysis
The benefit of a PESTLE analysis is that it allows you to complete a basic audit on an organisations position in relation to the macro environment It can then go to influence a number of business decisions within the organisation . I would also use this tool to complete the strength and weaknesses of a SWOT analysis which I believe sits well alongside this tool.
I believe the PESTLE framework is a good way to highlight the potential threats to a business yet my concern is that the data collated could be only one side of a coin.
For PESTLE analysis to be balanced it may need a ‘group’ to complete independent reports and then share them together to get a more accurate assessment.
I also read up a phrase which I really liked which suggests that the collecting of too much information may make it difficult to see the wood from the trees “PARALYSIS by ANALYSIS”

It is visually represented in its cinematography, with writing and acting it brings its stories of whimsical imagination and harsh truths to life and gives composers the chance to write the iconic scores that viewers never forget. At the root of every film is a hardworking group of people who simply wanted to bring their thoughts to life and learned how to work together to make that dream a reality. The United States of America has a very special relationship with the film industry. American film is part of the national identity that all American’s share and should be a point of pride for everyone in the country. It is culturally one of our nation’s greatest achievements, with the potential to be remembered historically as one of humanity’s great artistic mediums and continues to get better as more platforms are created to give as many filmmakers of all backgrounds a voice. Deeper within the context of American film culture, it is apparent that every state has a unique contribution to the nation’s collection of great cinema. Texas has had its ups and downs when providing a budget for film industry tax rebates and the future of the program is uncertain. In the face of adversity from lawmakers who care little about film and seek to defund it, Texas film will only continue if the outcry to preserve authentic Texas filmmaking is felt and a desire to be competitive with other states in film production incentives exists within the Texas legislature. Otherwise, the neighboring states of Louisiana and New Mexico or other emerging film states, like Georgia and Kentucky will continue to outplay Texas in attracting movie producers. However, Texas could potentially step up and become a major participant in incentivizing the production of film in the nation. But, before that can happen, Texas lawmakers have to be convinced that supporting the local film industry is beneficial to the state’s economic growth. Only if…

The importance of marketing and promotion of films is clear in one very simple way: an entire sector of the film industry – film distribution depends for its profits and survival upon the successful marketing and promotion of films. Organisations such as Icon and Artificial Eye as well as the more mainstream distributors for Hollywood studio pictures exist to get films from production to the market and exhibition. As well as these organizations state organizations also promote films e.g. UK Film Council, recently disbanded in the current coalition government’s bonfire of quangos but still crucial to the success of many films including the incredible recent success of King’s Speech (Hooper, 2011) which has made more money at the American box office then any other British film. One of the Film Council’s avowed aims is to help British movies to market and promote themselves given the domination of the market by Hollywood movies.…

A pestle analysis is one of the most popular and effective methods of analysing the external macroeconomic factors that could impact on a business within a specific industry. Commonly, a pestle analysis will be used alongside other analyses that focus on internal factors.
