Odysseus: An Effective Leader

Odysseus was a very effective leader. The first example was when Odysseus devised a quick, and cunning plan in the midst of chaos during their imprisonment in Polyphemus’ cave. A leader’s great leadership is the key to success. When Odysseus commanded the men to do as his plan follows, they listened, which resulted in their success in escaping the cave. Odysseus was an effective leader because he was cunning. Another example was when the crew were travelling in the Straits of Scylla and Charybdis. When they were inside the strait, the whole crew were alerted when one of their crew members were eaten by Scylla. In this panicking situation , Odysseus remained calm and told them to row back out, and to remain calm. The crew were sparkled with
confusion as to what they should do, but Odysseus was brave when he stood up and told them what to do, even when they were being attacked by Scylla. Lastly, Odysseus was an effective leader because he cared about his crew. With his faithfulness and generosity, Odysseus mustered up a dedicated crew. In the Land of The Dead, Odysseus cared for his crew’s safety, so when he was about to enter the Land of The Dead, he told his crew to leave without him if he doesn’t come back. This meant that if something happened to him, the crew would be able to escape if there was an attack. In conclusion, Odysseus was an effective leader because he was cunning, brave, and caring.
