One example of this is when they are passing the sirens and he tells his crew “you are to tie me up, tight as a splint...and if I shout and beg to be untied, take more turns of the rope to muffle me.” Odysseus was willing to withstand the sirens’ song on his own ,while his crew got earplugs. He protected his crew whenever he got the chance. He kept his promise to Penelope by never giving up on his journey home. This also inspired his crew to continue on the journey.
Atticus Finch, a father and lawyer from a small town, is a hero to many people. He inspires Scout and Jem to always do the right thing because he raised them that way. He once told Scout “I do my best to love everybody.” He never had prejudice towards anybody. He told his kids “there’s nothing more sickening to me than a low-grade white man who’ll take advantage of a negro’s ignorance.” This is why he defended Tom Robinson in court. I Strongly feel that Odysseus is not a hero. Odysseus is not a hero for three main reasons I would like to share with you, One of the reasons is that he is not a hero is that he takes his won ego and pride over the safety of his men and his mission. In one part of the story, He and his men are escaping on their boats away from the cyclops that had kept them there now I want you to think well the men are on their boats and they are gonna get away peacefully right well.... that would have been the case if Odysseus had not decided to shout back his name and where he was from for those who don't know the cyclops was blinded by Odysseus and his men and him stabbed him in his eye Odysseus speccifically says his name and pretty much who he was but his biggest mistake was yelling back at the giant who from Odysseus's voice caused him to know what direction Odysseus and his crew were he hurled a boulder at the Fleet of ships causing lives to be lost If he would have kept silent some of his men might have still been alive.…

His intelligence and strength allow him to get out of difficult situations, but his one flaw that was bringing Odysseus down was his hubris. The whole time Odysseus was trying to get home, he had many opportunities to display these traits, for example giving Polyphemus the wine to put him asleep showed his intelligence because this was the best way to injure the giant while causing the least amount of death. When he hung from the fig tree and waited for his ship, or being trapped in Polyphemus’s cave are all obstacles that he had to overcome. Odysseus overcame these obstacles because he is a hero and heroes overcome problems that come their way. Odysseus is not a superhero however, he is just a normal person that overcomes mistakes and problems that he is faced with. Everyone knows about superheroes and heroes and that they share similar principles except anyone can be a hero, but no one can be a…

What is your definition of a hero? It is definitely not a man with supernatural powers that can fly or have unhuman super strength. Many believe this is the case, but the definition is definitely the opposite of this one. A hero would be someone who has courage and has risked or sacrificed his life for others to achieve greatness. A hero to others is a person that has discovered or achieved something outstanding. A hero was a leader who not only had physical strength, but mental strength as well. “He” was usually someone that got themselves into danger, and in cases where the average man would suffer, the hero would have enough stamina to survive. Odysseus shows all of these signs and has achieved greatness because of these characteristics.…
