Odysseus Return Home In Homer's Odyssey
In The Odyssey, Odysseus must return home from a ten-year-long war and along the way piece back the remains of his old life in Ithaca, this is his search for identity. On the way home, he must tell stories of his travels from his twenty years away from home. He also must disguise himself when he returns to avoid conflict amongst the kingdom, hiding his true identity. Last but not least, he has to disguise himself from his wife who has been stringing along many suitors since he left. These things all leave him to put back together the pieces of his identity and his old life. When Poseidon again threatens to kill Odysseus, he must take shelter in Scheria with the king and queen.
