In Koncholovsky version of the Odyssey, Poseidon was mad at Odysseus because he did not give him thanks for helping him get into Troy’s gates. Odysseus says he did it all on his own. In the book version, Poseidon despises Odysseus for blinding his son, the Cyclops Polyphemus, and constantly obstructs his journey home. This change impacted the way Odysseus is presented as a leader because his personal desire to have glory and fame clouded his judgement causing him to make the mistake of discrediting a god.
