It means being dedicated to seeing your mission through to the end and being determined to never give up. These are all things that Perseus does throughout his quest and they all contribute to why I believe that he is a hero. First of all, his determination to complete his task never wavered and he didn’t let anything get in his way. For example, when Zeus visited Perseus, he offered him an opportunity to become a god and live in Olympus. Perseus refused this offer twice because he was committed to completing his mission and saving his people. He also proved his determination by continuing on his quest despite any of the dangers he could have faced. Perseus was warned by both Zeus and the Stygian witches that his quest to capture Medusa’s head is a very dangerous one and that he was fated to die. However, instead of giving up out of fear and going home, he was determined to keep moving forward and decided to continue on his mission. Not once did Perseus decide to quit and take the easy way out. Instead, he showed his determination by powering through all of the difficult moments that came his way until he was successful in completing his mission.
