Oedipus Analysis
Prologue
-(1-181)
-Oedipus, Priest, People, Creon * O, The True Riddle * Return of the Sphinx * The source of the blood
-I choose these titles because they reflect what the audience learns from the Prologue. Although Oedipus is the savior of Thebes by answering the Sphinx’s riddle, he has yet truly made the city happy. Even though the Sphinx does not actually arrive again, there is a new problem that Oedipus is faced with. The source of the blood demonstrates where the city of Thebes is finding their problems, which is the death of Laius. Oedipus learned that if he needed to save Thebes again, he must go to the Oracle and find out who killed Laius.
Episode 1 -(251-561) -Oedipus, Teiresias, Chorus * The Fortune Foretold * The test of the Oracle * Beginning of the Journey * Blind in Sight * Destiny Warned * Absurd Accusation * The Betrayal

The Delphi explained that Oedipus himself is the curse. The king criticizes Tiresias’s powers wildly and insults his blindness, but Tiresias only responds that the insults will eventually be turned on Oedipus by all of Thebes. This is the first true beginning where Oedipus started his journey. We first realize the true anger of Oedipus in this chapter.
Episode 2 -(612-1031) -Oedipus, Teiresias, Chorus * Wrongful Accusations * Fear of Truth * Doubt * Misguided Quest * Falsely Accused * Where Three Roads Met * Realization
-The first is a debate between Oedipus and Creon. Creon is disturbed and deeply hurt by Oedipus’ accusations that he is a traitor. He confronts Oedipus and provides evidence of his honesty and loyalty. Oedipus expresses his fears about Tiresias’ prophecy and his accusations. Jocasta tries to soothe his
