In the movie Of Gods and Men it showed me a larger inspiration to Jesus Christ through one of the greatest groups of people I've watched in a movie. The movie was based around a Trappist group of monks in Algeria and the hardships brought to them by a rouge group of Muslim extremists. The main conflict in the movie is if they should leave the monastery for their safety or resist the fact that the extremists next target might be them. The life of a Trappist monk is pretty simple compared to other orders in the church. The majority of a Trappist monk's time is devoted to prayed to God in the form of masses. They were mostly cut from the outer world staying in the monastery for most of the time. They would sometime go out to bless people , give medicine to the sick, and just to get supplies for the monastery . They were worried about hearing news of a group of Croatians filming a film being killed by a group of Muslim extremists. The Muslim extremists would do anything to prove their worthiness to their religion. There are many differences between the Muslim extremists and Christian monks it is more of a case of one will do or be one thing the other is the exact opposite. An example will be where they would stay while the monks barely never left the monastery the extremists like to move around. Another big difference is how they react to others the monks are very caring to people as they would cure and bless people. Then there was the extremists they were ruthless people who did not care about any type of rule except their own. They would kill anyone that is not their kind to show others their devotion to their god. Which brings us to some similarities they both showed deep devotion to their religion. They are also monotheistic which means they both believed in one god. When the time came they had to talk about if they should leave or not. They went through a democracy vote to decide if they would stay or leave
