If the music playing was upbeat and intense then that sets the mood for the scene. For example there was sad music then candy gave away his dog and then moments later you heard a gunshot in the distance and the music set the mood for that scene. While in the book it starts with Lennie and George walking to the new ranch. This shows what Lennie and George Have been through. Also the movie shows then working in a field multiple times to show how much they have to work to earn the money they need.
While Lennie and George are on a bus traveling to the new ranch there are multiple cinematic views and even more in towns. This is to show what the main focus of that scene is. When they first get to the ranch you think it is just a small house and a big field but over time they go into new rooms and it seems bigger and bigger.
When Lennie and or George would go into a new room it would show every little detail about that room and used a lot of imagery throughout the whole movie and even the book because in the book it used words instead of pictures. For example when Lennie went into Crooks’ room it showed every little part and every shelf of that room to how what it was like to actually be in that room and what it felt like.
