Glorious Frienship
“ There is nothing on this earth to be prized more than true friendship”, said by John Steinbeck in the book Of Mice of Men. Steinbeck’s book portrays friendship through the characters of George, Lennie, and Candy. Throughout the book they constantly pick each other up after mistakes and make living that much easier. Lennie has George’s back, and George has Lennie’s back and that’s all that seems to matter. Throughout one of the darkest times in American history, their guidance, help, and partnership light the pathway to their dream. First they both help guide each other in many different ways. George basically took Lennie under his wing and showed him the world. George is trying to lead him in the right direction, like when he gets him a job and wants to get them their own little place. George wants to see Lennie become something other than the huge mental guy. Lennie helps guide george on the other hand by not letting their dream slip away. Lennies’ always asking him about it and reciting,” But not us! An' why? Because… because I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you, and that's why." He laughed delightedly. "Go on now, George!" (Steinbeck 115). Basically, Lennie is keeping George from spending it in a whore house. Candy helps out by showing the new guys ,which are George and Lennie, how the farm basically works. He also shows them the do’s and don’t, for example messing with Curley.
Werynski 2 George helps Lennie as well as Lennie helps George too. One instance is when Lennie grabbed some random girls dressed and were chased by men threatening to kill them. George grabs Lennie’s hand and helps them both escape without issues. Another time is when Curley is beating up Lennie and George finally says,” Get em Lennie, don’t just stand there!”(Steinbeck ?), and then Lennie proceeds in crushing Curley’s hand. They all help each other
