The friendship between George and Lennie in Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men is illustrated as one that is strong and enduring which is not expected of men during the time the book sets. By looking at George and Lennie’s friendship, one can see that they both envision a future that includes both of them and fail to see one without the other. By opposing the themes of friendship and loneliness, Steinbeck creates an example of a friendship that will carry on even in the final stages past death.…
Even though the story ends with heartache, it still doesn’t remove the fact that Lennie and George knew that their friendship kept them going. John Steinbeck brings the time period of the 1930s to life in Of Mice and Men. The story captures the tale of two men, George and Lennie, use friendship and a dream to overcome challenges. Piece by piece as challenges add, it ends with serious consequences. Steinbeck displays that weakness leads to cruelty through the characters in Of Mice and Men by Crooks trying to acquire a position over Lennie, Candy’s dog dying, and Curley’s wife speaking to Crooks.…
Of Mice and Men (John Steinbeck) is a novel overflowing with friendship, colorful characters, vivid detail and yet a tragic storyline. George and Lennie are two guys that travel the country looking for work during the depression era. Given that Lennie is "not quite right", George must be accountable for Lennie's actions and take care of him. Throughout several sequence of events, George gives himself up to care for Lennie and his needs. Although the two do have a dream to buy a farm, George doesn't achieve it for reasons that may or may not be related to Lennie's mistakes. George is a rather tragic character because he could be very successful if he didn't have to look out for Lennie.…
In the show Supernatural, Dean has to kill same because when Dean and Sam’s dad dies, Sam starts to become bad because it’s in his blood. He tells dean that if he can’t control Sam, he will kill him. This is similar to George in the novel Of Mice and Men. George has to kill Lennie, but Lennie is like a brother to him. George and Dean are similar because they both have to kill someone they grew up with because they’re making things worse for themselves.…
The book Of Mice and Men was written by John Steinbeck and takes place during the Great Depression. Throughout the book we follow the two main characters, George and Lennie. George is shown to have much power over Lennie. These two and many other characters struggle with obtaining, holding, or keeping “under control” the amount of power they have or want. In Steinbeck's novel, the theme that seems to be most present is that, although people seek power, they often misuse it after obtaining it.…

‘Of mice and Men’ written by john Steinbeck is a clever and thought provoking book in how the author uses the theme of loneliness. Many of the characters including Lennie, Crooks, George and Curley’s wife admit to once being lonely and isolated. Loneliness is an emotion, but more so a disease that can kill the heart and soul of even the strongest individual. I believe everyone has experienced loneliness in some form, some more than others, but loneliness none the less. After reading the book of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and discussing the novels themes I came to a conclusion. Loneliness is a building block in which every one of Steinbeck’s characters is constructed. John Steinbeck incorporates an overshadowing theme of loneliness throughout his novel Of Mice and Men, though by far the loneliest character is Curley’s wife through the her thoughts on Curley and his actions, the fact she is a women, and her broken dream.…
