What do you do when you are lonely? Most people go out and do something with their friends and family, and maybe blow some money. Some people are limited to what they can or can’t do, because of location, money, ability. It’s crazy how so many people can be lonely in a small place where everyone should be able to get along. Everyone's characteristics are very different they all do things differently. In Of Mice and Men I believe John Steinbeck was trying to show different perspectives of people being lonely, because Crooks, Candy, and Curley’s Wife all have different reasons why they are lonely. She married Curley and moved to the ranch, but little did she know she was going to be the only women. “I get lonely” She said. “You can talk to people, but I can’t talk to nobody but Curley.” (Steinbeck 87). Curley is controlling he didn’t enjoy her talking to other guys on the the ranch, but that didn’t stop her. Women’s attempts to dominate men are much more likely to fail, because “…sexual discrimination allows men privileged access to the material and social resources needed to gain advantage in power struggles.” (“Understanding Domestic Abusers”2016). Curley’s Wife would never be able to dominate Curley, because he is the boss and she is the wife. She never gets to go into town with all the others. Instead she stays home and sees what mischief she can get into. They need to expand the ranch and maybe add another women if Curley won’t let her do anything.
