In what ways does Fran?ois Clouet's Lady in Her Bath painting reflect the ideology and culture of the Renaissance Era? The woman bathing in front of the painting is seating in cold water. The painting shows how she is being pampered by her family. She has fruit in front of her so she can eat while bathing. The woman bathing has a shower cap on her with a pear dropping from it. The pear on her shower cap matches her earring in her ear. The artist has her looking off into the distance as if someone is coming to see her. The maid is leaning up against a bench in front of the fireplace that also tells me that she has been over worked. By them having a maid it would make their house a happier and healthy home. The contrast of the smoothly rendered nude figure to the intricate surface details of the fruit, draperies, and jewelry, presents a union of Flemish and Italian motifs that characterized French courtly art of the sixteenth century. The painting was done on oil and wood. 1510-1572 French Francois Clouet Locations The earliest reference to him is a document dated December 1541 (see Jean Clouet), in which the king renounces for the benefit of François his father estate, which had escheated to the crown as the estate of a foreigner. In this document, the younger Clouet is said to have followed his father very closely in his art. Like his father, he held the office of groom of the chamber and painter in ordinary to the king, and so far as salary is concerned, he started where his father left off.
