The O.J. Simpson murder case was a criminal trial held in Los Angeles, California from January 29 to October 3, 1995. The former football player and actor, O.J. Simpson was tried for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. The case has been described as the most publicized and controversy criminal case in American history. The case was racially divided because most African Americans believed that Simpson was innocent and most Caucasian Americans believed he was guilty. The prosecutor had indisputable forensic evidence but the defense attorneys were able
to discredit the facts and convince the jury that O.J. Simpson was innocent. “It was a circumstantial case with overwhelming evidence and a case that the prosecution easily could have won if they hadn’t made so many mistakes” (Dershowitz, 1995). The mistakes from this case cost the prosecution one of the biggest verdicts of all time. I decided to choose the O.J. Simpson case because I want t see what went wrong with the evidence. According to the defense, the evidence was not properly handled or accounted for. Also, the people who were testifying against O.J. Simpson were proven to be lying under oath. Tampering with the evidence and people lying under oath really put the prosecution team in an awkward position. I think if things were done differently and correctly then may Simpson would have been found guilty. I want to do more research on the case to see what evidence the prosecution had, and why was most of the evidence thrown out. I expect to learn how Simpson got away with a crime that had so much indisputable evidence. There was obvious evidence such as blood on the glove, blood on the socks, blood on the floor, blood on the gate, and hairs and fibers on some of the objects which could be linked with Simpson.
