    Jay's Journal is an interesting book written by Jay. The story is about Jay and how he was led into witchcraft and the occult and using drugs by his girlfriend and others. The author tells how Jay was led into all of this, and it also tells how he got his two best friends into using the same stuff and into the occult also known as the O. The author describes how he learned that the human race was afraid of mind over matter techniques and learned how to use them himself. He was able to levitate small objects and see peoples auwa and aura. This is a great book because it helps some people that deal with the same problems to see what might happen if they choose to follow the same path. I really liked this book because it might help people deal with this type of stuff, it was written in a real person's journal and described what led to his death, and I like how it says what happened every day of his life.…

    It is evident that several characters throughout the text King Lear written by William Shakespeare move from blindness to a clearer perception. It has been said that King Lear is about a tragedy of “man going sane.” In Shakespearean terms, blind has a different meaning than modern English.     In the chapter 15 as we call Sister Flowers from How the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, allows us the readers to experience the day with Margareute Johnson through her writing style as if we were experiencing it through her eyes and deep inside her thoughts. Her use of imagery, metaphors, similes and narration helps us paint and imagine a vivid picture in our own minds. Just like when Angelou is describing Sister Flowers, “Her skin was a rich black that would have peeled like a plum if snagged . . .” Her use of a simile comparing a plum helps us imagine the details such as being smooth, soft, and shiny, just as she saw Sister Flower’s dark black skin. Her use of imagery helps us experience things she saw, the smells she smelt, as if we were right there experiencing it with her. “The sweet scent of vanilla had met us as she opened the door.” As we read this we can in our heads invent in our minds how Sister Flowers house smelled like vanilla, as she was about to step into her house. Angelou gets us thinking that Sister Flowers had probably just got done baking. “They were flat round wagers, slightly browned on the edges and butter-yellow in the center.” Angelou already gave us her sense of smell, now she is using imagery to describe her sense of sight of the cookies that Sister Flowers just baked especially for Margareute. Now she is getting our mouths watering for some of Sister Flower’s cookies.…

    Until now I never really thought much upon how Special Education was formed or carried out. I have had dealing with the Special Education department with my step son so I was already aware of how things went and the procedures of how help was gotten while attending school. I did find it very interesting that it all started with Brown v. Board of Education, a colored girl wanting to attend a white school. While I knew that public schools were free to attend and were open to everyone even the disabled/handicapped I just assumed that the school could turn the disabled away if they were not set for someone of that nature; I was not aware that this was not an option. I also just thought every school took it upon themselves during the planning phase to make sure their facilities would be accessible to all I did not know this was a state mandate. The differences between the Individual with Disabilities Education Act IDEA and the No Child Left Behind NCLB were astonishing to me as I have had ill thoughts all this time toward the bill as I am realizing they are were so misdirected. I do however still believe the teachers use the bill for their advantage to allow students to move forward in the school system when they are clearly not ready. While I am sure that the teachers are up to date with the standards set forth by the state it makes me question if they have had any refresher courses or if they have lost their will to push all students and help them achieve greatness. I am glad that the state upped the standards for teachers to be considered highly qualified and that every teacher has to conform to this standard and not some the ones teaching the Special Education classes.…

    When I was in high school I wasn't a very good student, I didn't really apply myself to anything. I had no dreams of going to college or doing anything special with my life. No one had ever encouraged me to do anything better than I was or to try harder. My parents were not college graduates, they both worked full time jobs and had to raise four kids. I knew there wasn't enough money to send me to college, and my guidance counselor never explained financial aid to me. I graduated, got a job and worked one dead end job after another, until I got married and started a family. I spent the next fifteen years raising my son and daughter and encouraging them to continue their education after high school. About a year ago my husband decided he wanted a divorce, and I was left wondering ;"What am I going to do now?" Since graduation I have always regretted not going to college, I have always wanted to work with children, either as a counselor or in social work. My parents suggested that I should go back to school. I applied at Ashford University. I have always thought of myself as a failure, but I'm not scared of failing anymore, I am however afraid of letting myself down for not trying hard enough,and for me that just isn't good enough anymore. I want more for myself and I want to look in the mirror everyday and be proud of who I see. I know that if I apply myself and stay focused and motivated that I will achieve my goals to graudate and pursue my dreams.…
