Even though Okonkwo is a powerful leader, he still has many flaws. Okonkwo’s father, Unoka, was a very lazy and cowardly individual, always borrowing money from everyone and avoiding fights, though we was a very gentle person. Due to his father’s faults, Okonkwo forced himself to be the exact opposite, becoming a wealthy individual and a great warrior. However, he constantly fears failure and weakness, has no tolerance or patience for things he dislikes, and has very serious anger issues. One example of this is former Republican President Richard Nixon, who was almost impeached for his involvement in the Watergate scandal. The scandal started when the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington DC was broken into, and covered up the Nixon administration. This shows that he broke the law, and resigned as to not be impeached, using his resignation as a form a damage control. Another example is Democratic President Bill Clinton, who was impeached for his involvement in the Lewinsky scandal. He was charged with perjury and obstruction of justice for lying about cheating on his wife, among other allegations, though he was later acquitted of the charges. The example demonstrates that he was lying about his affairs and could not control himself properly.
