Denmark: Globalization and the Welfare State
Introduction and Problems In the twentieth century, Denmark has been impressively developed. It has become a prosperous country economically, socially, and politically stable in the decades. Denmark had been balancing and developing its social welfare system due to the impact of globalization, including outsourcing and movement of labor. Denmark’s reforms implemented had drove down unemployment rate, promoted new company formation, and brought the country near the top in term of doing business. However, increasing international competition is a big challenge for Denmark. In order to keep its border open to the free movement of goods, services, and labor while also sustaining the breadth of its welfare offerings, the Danish government would have to encounter with a lot of challenges.
Objectives
This paper is going to answer the four questions about the case study and give my personal opinion toward different situation in the case.

Question 1:
Denmark is one of the most prosperous countries in the world. It has such low unemployment in 2008. There are many reasons explaining how Denmark achieved low unemployment in 2008. First of all, I believe Denmark had a strong and intelligent leader, and also efficient government who can think analytically and create strategies for its internal economic system and the changes in globalization. Second reason is because of the Danish Growth Strategy. In 1980 to 1990, as the globalization intensified and the emergence of offshoring strategies, Denmark was experiencing all-time high unemployment.
