The Old Man and The Sea highlights a struggle between an old man named Santiago and a vicious and enormous marlin. After eighty-four days without a catch, the old man was ridiculed his fellow fishermen, he was seen as the village’s biggest loser. Although Santiago was unfortunate, Manolin displayed epic care for him; he provided him with food, kept him warm, and remained optimistic while everyone else made fun of him. The next day, Santiago went beyond the shallow water of the coastline, venturing into the Gulf Stream, and drops his lines. This passage of the book is very symbolic because it accentuates on a potential themes of pride and determination.
