Olive Garden Research Paper
When my stomach is growling with hunger and my friends ask where I want to eat, without a moment‘s hesitation I reply, “Olive Garden!” My favorite restaurant to dine at is the Olive Garden. The Olive Garden restaurant is a well known corporate chain of restaurants that offers a wide variety of Italian dishes. It is a mid-priced, causal restaurant specializing in Italian food. I love the experience of dining at the Olive Garden because the atmosphere is welcoming, the Italian Entrees are scrumptious, and the service is excellent. A particular visit last month proved to me that Olive Garden lives up to the expectations of its guests. Olive gardens creed of “Treating you like you’re family” is true for me. The friendliness of the workers allowed me to feel relaxed like I was at home. The chatter from various tables became a bit loud at times, but gave me the feeling of being with a large Italian family eating great food having a good time. …show more content…

As soon as we walked through the door we heard, “how are you and welcome to the Olive Garden”. We were then taken to our table and asked what we wanted to drink. I got the fresh brewed ice tea. My friends just got the San Pellegrino water. Our drinks were received and the order was taken in a timely manner. The server was very knowledgeable of the menu and was very polite while taking our order. We were told our order would be put right in, and the salad and breadsticks were on their way. When the food arrived, our waitress let us know that the oversized plates were hot and to very careful. We began to eat. As we ate our meal the server came over twice to check on us and refilled our glasses. The server was very attentive and took very good care of us. The only problem with the service was that our check was a bit delayed getting over to the table, but it’s understandable considering how busy they were. The best part was getting the mints after paying the

I am currently employed at the Olive Garden in Oshkosh WI so I only thought doing my managerial report project on this service restaurant was appropriate. The Oshkosh Olive Garden was opened in the April of last year and has been running smoothly ever since. Olive Garden is a chain restaurant so there are locations all over the United States around 700 to be exact, this means a lot of the price setting and procedures are set country wide not from restaurant to restaurant. Even so each Olive Garden keeps track of their own sales and personally contributes to the overall company. At Olive Garden we proudly serve lunch and dinner with a casual Italian dining experience. The dinner entrees are priced anywhere from $11- $19 a meal but included unlimited soup or salad and then breadsticks. I have been working at the Olive Garden for about 7 months now so I felt that I knew most of what goes on on the outside of the restaurant but it is time to take a deeper look into the procedures put into this everyday restaurant.…

The first memory I have of the Pantry was as a child and I would go up to the attic of the old farm-house on 1063 N. Dugan Rd., Urbana, Ohio. My parents, Harry and Donna Dachenbach, moved from the farm of John Yordy on St. Rt. 36 where my sister was born, to the farm on Dugan Rd. This would have been about 1937 or 38. The house was a very large two-story house with a long attic that was scary for a young boy because it was dark, dusty and filled with junk and trash. There was a pair of broken boards between the two sides of the attic that my sister told me, “If you fall through the break, you will fall all the way to the basement”. Though an absolute falsehood, I sucked it up and always gave a wide berth to the broken boards. There was a large family living on the farm before Mom and Dad moved in, I believe their name was Hess. Back in the late 1800's – early 1900's a family by the name of James owned and lived in the house. The pantry was stored up in the attic against one end and was covered in dust and bird poop. After we got a TV and I got to see “Captain Video and his Video Ranger”, the Pantry became my space ship console (no color TV…

Complaining that he couldn’t read because of the dim lighting (though I would’ve complained about the small seating area that was barely substantial enough to fit all of our meals with our large drinks), food being too expensive, and the bread did not tasting that good, our highly customer praised avocado egg roll appetizer was mediocre and only tasted good when dipped in the “green sauce” as he puts it. I ate the most of the appetizer, and I couldn’t necessarily agree with him about sauce as it made sweeter. He also split a dish between him and my older sister which although had flavor was not that good, I couldn’t give an opinion myself only because I was busy munching away at my dish. On Tuesday evening around 8:15 pm, Mr. Martin A. Wallace accompanied by his father and two daughters, entered an Olive Garden Restaurant expecting to be greeted with a friendly smile and great customer service. This was not the case. Instead, Mr. Wallace was not greeted by any host/hostess, but instead an empty station. After waiting about ten minutes, he went to the bar to find someone to seat him and his family. Only then did a hostess take them to their table and appeared to be annoyed. The hostess tried to seat them in a section that was not possible for Mr. Wallace’s father to get to easily since he is handicapped. After a short conversation, she then took them to a dirty table and just tossed the menus on the table without waiting for them to be seated. When his family picked up the menus, they noticed one was a lunch menu and the other girls did not receive a children’s menu. It took Mr. Wallace another 15 minutes to have a waiter take their drink and meal order. Once the food arrived 20 minutes later, the meals were cold and Mr. Wallace was informed he could not have the wine he ordered as the Olive Garden was all out of wine. He also had to request for silverware and napkins. Mr. Wallace then requested to speak to the manager regarding the ordeal. The manager also appeared annoyed that they were in the dining room so late in the evening, but did have the kitchen replace only his meal and the rest of the family ate theirs cold. The family then waited another 15 minutes for the check, but it never came. Mr. Wallace had to go back to the bar to request the manager and the check and was rudely confronted by the manager for doing so. The family left well after 10 o’clock on a Tuesday night not happy with their service and not given even a free drink for the huge inconvenience that it caused.…

Their behavior and responses toward our needs did not surprise me; every established restaurant lives through the ethics of good service, if not, the establishment falls apart. As food culture goes, consumers do not revisit restaurants with servers that treat them poorly. Our server, a follower of the restaurant ethics, treated us with great respect by offering complimentary bread and water and pitching jokes into conversation. However, there was one element that made him stand out from any server I have ever had. When I told him about my observation paper for my college English course, he was amused and provoked with the idea of me writing about the restaurant he was most passionate about. He offered his extensive assistance from offering to answer any questions to taking photos from the kitchen, although I had only one request for the gentlemen. After ordering our entrees, I asked if I could watch the chef prepare the food, he responded with a delightful, “of course,…
