2) During the encounter of the Lotus Eaters, Odysseus sent three men to check out the island they arrived on. When they search the island they find the Lotus Plants. This turns out to be bad news for the men. The people of the Lotus Plants are very kind and generous people. This plant causes the men to forget, which turns out to make the men forget they were heading back to their homeland Ithica. This intoxicating plant causes the men to keep eating due to how good they were, which kept prolonging there journey back home.
3) After Odysseus vanquishes the suitors, Athena tells him to go high up into the hill with an oar so high that the oar looks like it is a fan. The oar symbolizes him getting his message out to the world. Odysseus then goes to his fathers house to speak with him. His father then helps kill the Suitors family's that were trying to get a revenge attack going on Odysseus. This helps Odysseus with his returning to his homeland for good. It represents his passion for never giving up and achieving tough goals. It proves to always set your goals and hopes high and once you achieve them shoot for an even higher goal and work hard until you reach your new goal.
