Olyumpus Has Blown Up Analysis
Emmerich’s latest world “disaster”
“That’s the same building which was blown up in Independence day!”, just a whole lot bigger, dumber and stupider than the “boringly straight-faced” Olyumpus Has Fallen. Roland Emmerich has wrecked the world more than any other director, with aliens in Godzilla and continent-killing in 2012, it’s not surprising that he death-raid’s the White House again in this latest film “White House Down”. However, don’t get too excited about the “hottest flick on the block” (critic) because I was extremely disappointed with this newest ‘apocalyptic’ film. Maybe it’s time to give up deconstructing the world Roland Emmerich, because you surely didn’t do a good job in this elongated, cliché-riddled and unrealistic film.
Channing Tatum plays John Cale a Capitol Policeman, who has just been denied his dream job with the secret service of protecting the President James Sawyer and despite the horrible script, his performance is worth a round of applause. Not wanting to let down his “little girl” with the news, he takes

It’s actually tear-jerking when Channing Tatum and James Sawyer get shot 5 times and survive, not because it’s upsetting, because it’s so ridiculous it’s humorous. This “action-thriller” is more like a comedy you would flick on on a Tuesday night to make you fall asleep.
Although, Emmerich sure does go light on believability and heavy on the gun fire, with 120 minutes of furious fires and extensive explosions, making the film hard to follow as most of the time the camera is balanced and the dialogue between characters is often lost in the heaving blaze. The wide-angle widescreen compositions don’t help as the camera darts and ducks through hallways of the exploding White House leaving you lost, leaving the final scene of the film being the establishing shot because the people in it are the ones who

Rhetorical Analysis: In 102 Minutes, the authors Dwyer and Flynn signify the irony of the events that took place on September 11th, 2001. Through the two authors’ use of diction and syntax, the World Trade Center is made to look like an almost invincible mass in New York City, though the reader already knows that the Towers fell. Described to be able “to absorb a hurricane of 140 miles per hour,” Dwyer and Flynn instantly set up their social commentary, as all reading the novel already know the tragic irony that what was thought to be indestructible was actually extremely fragile. The image of the Towers “absorbing” a “140 mile per hour hurricane” is vital to understanding how everyone, including the authorities, thought the World Trade Center would be able to handle an attack, no matter how large scale. Furthermore, Dwyer and Flynn use tone to greater help the reader understand why certain precautionary measures may not have been taken long before the attacks that occurred on the fateful day of September…

There is an obvious tangle of narrative here. Is the audience watching the footage captured by Taylor or a something else? However the mix of street slang and police code provides an insight into the person behind the badge and makes them very likeable people. This insight into their character also makes the things they do for each other and their community much more believable. The flawless acting performance by Jake Gyllenhaal (Officer Taylor) and Michael Peña (Officer Zavala) add to the movie and makes it much more plausible. The finale of the movie keeps everyone on the edge of their seats. The ending is nothing less than incredible. The climax of the movie is frank and rough, and touches the deepest parts of your heart.…

    Bad Boys: Movie Review

    • 533 Words

Compared to the first Bad Boys movie this one for me definitely leaves its predecessor in the shadows after a long waited eight years. Nothing in this film is done in moderation...there's at least one million bullets fired in one scene alone! The degree to which the director Mark Hughes has gone to make this film energetic is certainly obvious from the first scene alone, where a heart pumping ambush on the "kkk" is staged by the TNT. Straight away tension, uncertainty and most importantly entertainment is thrown in to viewer’s faces as the pair Will Smith and Martin Lawrence prepare to put in a memorable comedic feat. The motorway car chase is a merging scene of Matrix Reloaded and Terminator 3 put together, this without fail leaves…

I movies are not straight comedies and although sometimes probably not trying to be funny they are. I do love these films. I think by third film it lost its way and needed to end. The kills are pretty good in these movies, the effects aren't that great though.I can always remember one scene in Hatchet 2 with two people having sex Victor kills one and it is so funny. I enjoyed the back story to this killer too and generally I do not like supernatural killers but I do like him. Kane Hodder plays Victor too and he is a Horror legend so it can't be all…

Olmsted wanted to created the idea of boundaries; he has done this by creating what we know as ‘’Mount Royal’’ today. It is a place where people who are often distraught, stressed and bombarded by work, use as an escape to a scenery. They can breathe the fresh air rather than the toxic air that they are familiar with and witness what nature has to offer. Based on Olmsted reading, Olmsted didn’t want to ruin what was already beautiful, so he avoids it by not adding little decorations or details because it would take away the importance of the park. Olmstead deemed that the beautiful scenic was an effective remedy for harmful influences that cause stress found in the urban life.…

They use the Empire State Building as a platform for their big reveal of the project because of its global profile, thus anyone with a cell phone or access to the internet would know about it. I think these are fascinating methods of incorporating image dissemination, although somber images will likely not be enough to motivate their audience to permanently change their ways. This film distorts social reality by focusing on addressing micro-issues that can be targeted much more easily. However, the issue is a macro problem that needs to be tackled in order to mitigate the…

Unlike other old-fashioned science fiction movie, The Day After Tomorrow actually brings out an educational message about global warming.
