Omnibus Types
Omnibus-Type, established in 2011, is a company that uses web typography and high-quality fonts, in their designs, which are either created born free, or when they are contacted specifically by a company. Their designers are all from Argentina and Mexico, with diverse styles and origins, who are knowledgeable and continually growing, in bringing products that encompasses “academic research, technological awareness and mastery of the craft” (omnibus-type.com). The fonts or typefaces that they create can be used for print and online platforms, showcasing their versatility over numerous devices, such as web, desktop, eBooks, apps, etc. Collaboration is a huge part of their design process, whether it is among their own design team, or working with design teams or company executives. Omnibus-Type uses a bespoke typeface that is specifically made to fit the specific needs of a brand. They have collaborated with Google Fonts, Typekit and other major brands. Their catalog consists of 19 fonts and growing, which you can see in the image to the right. The three typefaces that I have chosen are, Archivo, Rosario, and Sansita, which were created by Héctor Gatti and Pablo Cosgaya (respectively), along with the Omnibus-Type Team and others. In 2011, he designed Sansita, which was developed by the Omnibus-Type team. It is a typeface whose “lowercase explores the relationship between typography and calligraphy”, and the “uppercase makes this an excellent choice for packaging, brief texts, branding and slogans” (omnibus-type.com).
