One beautiful fall day the Mateo family was driving from their home in Cosalima to Tabasco where their Abuela lived. Everyone was excited to go except Pricila. She was angry because her friends had invited her to go and see the Guadalupe Festival and dance, and her parents had said no. When they got there her youngest brother, Torivio, sprinted to the house. He always did that because he wanted the first concha and churro. Then her parents got the luggage and told Pricila that she couldn’t stay in the car. They also told her to wake up her two older brothers, Carlos and Guadalupe, before going inside. Pricila explained her situation. Her abuela made her happy like she always did when she was angry or sad. They ate dinner. Which they had menudo and posole. They went to bed a little after they finished dinner. Around 11 p.m. Pricila woke up, and checked to see if anyone was awake. No one was. She got her bag and put her jacket on. When she had heard her parents saying they were going to their Abuela’s house she had bought a bus ticket to go back home. So, she could go to the Guadalupe Festival and dance with her friends. She knew her parents would get mad, but they would get over it after a while. Pricila knew she could just go to her uncle’s house instead of going home and staying there all alone. She creeped to the back door and went outside. It was a beautiful night out with the moon bright enough to see the path. She knew she had to hurry because her oldest brother, Carlos, tended to wake up at midnight for a glass of water. Her younger brother, Torivio, woke up to go to the bathroom around that time too.
