One Day Analysis
The song “One Day” by Matisyahu, represents how Vahan is feeling about this whole Armenian Genocide. The song is about not wanting a war and just wanting peace in the world. It explains how you pray for the world to be a better place and that you should stand tall and just hope for that day, but never let it bring you down. Vahan doesn’t understand why the turkish are attacking his people. He just wants his normal life back with his warm house and all the food he could eat surrounded by the people he loves. He wants the war to end so that kids who are his age when he’s older, don’t have to go through what he had to in order to survive and watch everyone you love and care about die right before your eyes. The lyrics, “Then i pray, don’t take me soon, ‘cause i am here for a reason”, connects with how Vahan wants to carry on his family name and survive to honor them. It may be easy to lose yourself throughout the journey but if you keep going for what you believe in, you could maybe stop the war.

"One Day"
By Matisyahu

Sometimes I lay
Under the moon
And thank God I'm breathing
Then I pray
Don't take me soon
'Cause I am here for a reason
Sometimes in my tears I drown
But I never let it get me down
So when negativity surrounds

The song is saying that they know how it feels to have nothing left to lose, it’s relatable to have nothing left in the world that can be taken away. Vahan has lost so many people he has cared about in his life. He’s lost his family, his home, his normal life, etc. The song is a little dark because it explains that there is really nothing left to live for and they can understand how they must feel and all the anger that builds up inside you when you realize everything you loved and cared for the most was taken away from you. The turkish soldiers took away his home, his family, his friends, anything that was ever important to

Before I start this analysis, I would like to point out that this interpretation of this song will be biased in two ways. I am a Christian and my interpretation will be based on my beliefs. My second bias is that I think that this band is one of the most lyrically powerful bands ever and is honestly probably my favorite band right now.…

The song starts out with a strang questioning of reality: “Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide, No escape from reality, Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see”. They first two lines are rhetorical questions. They help establish the state of mind needed in order to continue with the song. The third line is a metaphor. It means everything is crashing down on him, and he cannot escape it. It seems to conclude that he is caught between a dream and awakening. The next couple set of lines are being used as transitions into the main part of stanza one, “I’m just a poor boy, I need no sympathy, Because I’m easy come, easy go, Little high, little low, Any way the wind blows, Doesn’t really matter to me, to me”. In the third and fourth line repetition is used in order to keep the lyrics flowing. The boy thinks his life doesn’t matter to anyone, his life is meaningless and the Earth does not care what happens to him. He does not care what happens next, he just wants it over; “any way the wind blows” him, he will go and it “doesn’t really matter” to him anymore. The next three lines show intent to kill by the boy, “Mama, just killed a man, Put a gun against his head, Pulled my trigger, now he’s dead”. The boy has finally come to terms of what he has…

This song portrays how we as Americans should represent our country, soldiers or not. We should be proud to be Americans and represent our country in the best possible way. It also shows that we should be there for each other, to stand beside each other and to do what is right. If only all Americans could have the bond for each other that our soldiers have, we would be a much better country. They fight beside each as brothers and sisters for our country and protect our rights.…

We live in a world where, without conflict, there is no entertainment. It is a convention of drama that there must be conflict between characters in order for it to be entertaining, and thus be successful. We can consider a text to be successful if the playwright is able to convey a view of a theme or issue to the audience that challenges our views as he or she originally intended. Through the conflicting views of characters, the audience is often exposed to attitudes and opinions different to their own. The One Day of the Year, by Alan Seymour, is a play that examines how through both the internal and external conflicts of different characters, we are exposed to an array of contrasting opinions, therefore validating the statement that this…
