One Foot In Eden Analysis
Choices shape our lives in many ways. It is impossible to go through life without making any. What we choose can define us, can close off a part of our life that, had we chosen differently, could have led to something completely different. Many things can influence our choices, from morals, to peers, to experience. Usually, it is our own morals and opinions that decide what we do. How we were raised, what we were taught, and what we have picked up along the way. Family plays a large part in our decisions. Many people think about what someone in their family would do when faced with a difficult decision. In One Foot in Eden, Amy weighs the pros and cons of sleeping with Holland to get pregnant. She carefully thinks about what her husband

One of the ideas behind Borge’s Garden of the forking paths is that God allows people to choose. They are free to make their own decisions and forge their own path, but it is one’s path which defines their character. Decisions explain one’s motivation and determination to act on those decisions which by definition means character. In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, by J.K. Rowling, characters as Neville, Hermione, Professor Quirrell and Harry Potter defend the idea that people’s choices define their character.…

Monsters are not always furry beast that live under the bed. Monsters can be born as human children, hiding behind pretty faces and sweet voices. They are not solely the things found in nightmares, nor do they always leave when the lights turn on. They are real, and can be found in every one of us. The Bible says that every child is born with a seed of evil, that can be traced back to the beginning of biblical times. This seed is original sin, planted in the hearts of humanity by the devil himself. If that seed is let to cultivate, then it can take over a person, and push them toward the path of monstrosity. No matter what your were born as, monster or saint, it is your choice to chose the path you want to take. In the novel East of Eden, John Steinbeck uses both Cal Trask and Cathy Ames to symbolize the evil inside of humanity, and Cal alone as a symbol of humanity's choice to overcome it.…

    Choice Theories

A choice theory I can personally relate to is general deterrence. I got pulled over today in Hampton. I was going ten mph over the speed limit because my daughter was hungry and crying. I rather speed a little bit so I can get home sooner to feed my daughter. I would never excessively speed with my daughter, but if the speed limit is twenty-five and I’m going thirty-five, at that time, getting home outweighed going the speed limit. I wasn’t thinking about the consequence at the time, but ten minutes later, I got handed an eighty dollar…

Wes has been arrested for shooting Ray and he has decided to not run and be corporative with the police and go peacefully. Mary cannot believe that he results to murder for his gang. The other Wes's decisions show that Wes made a choice to not run and that he needed to grow up and do what was right. By not running he is finally trying to do something right. His decisions help him with his prison time because he would only be charged with one fine, murder, instead of murder and resisting arrest. The decisions someone makes, big or small, can have a bigger affect on their…

People decide to do everything, they choose which path to take, and choose the consequences or rewards associated with their decisions. Surprisingly many do not know “when you have a decision to make, the standard advice is to think everything through and weigh the pros and cons and reason your way to the right choice.” Many people just react without thinking, it is human nature to follow the impulses felt, but no one ever stops to think what bad things may occur from their idiotic choices. Especially in today’s society, every single decision made can lead to a person’s destruction or even death, the free will humans posses is something of use for good but many abuse it and end up hurting their fate more than helping…
