One Of The Most Important Days In My Life
ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT DAYS OF MY LIFE

I decided to get out of bed extra early that beautiful spring morning.

Everyone and everything seem to be having a great morning that day. I could hear the birds chirping love songs, and the cats meowing. As I looked out the window I could see the sun smiling at me. I closed my eyes and smiled back at the sun, as my mind drifted off to what this new day would bring to me.

I then realized I only had one hour until I started this new journey in my life. Anxiety and excitement overcame me thinking about my new huge commitment.

My oldest daughter Mariah called out to me distracting me from my thoughts saying; "mom is that my bus coming?". I then got dressed, and watched my daughters get on the school bus.

As I was driving to my destination the wow factor hit me. I kept thinking how this is oh so surreal, and my dreams were about to officially come true. I pulled into the parking lot, saying to myself "gosh there are so many people out here". I set in my car for a couple of minutes trying to get my emotions together. My stomach started turning in knots, because of my nerves.

It was a little hard finding my destination , but I finally found the room #103. Before I entered the room I straightened my shoulders, lift my head, and strutted into the room, and took a seat in the front mid section.

As I let my eyes roam around the room, I saw at least twenty other people that had already taken them a seat as well. I felt a little intimidated, when I noticed that there were so many younger people. There was maybe about five of us that seem to look at least the age of twenty five, or older. I had to reminded myself that we were all there for the same purpose.

I then heard someone in the front of the room say "Hello everyone welcome to ARTS 1313 here at Panola College, my name is Mrs. Jones. I will be calling out the attendance , and as I say your name please stand and introduce yourself". All the while giving the class a welcoming

When we got to the facility, we are asked to sign in and have a seat in the waiting area. After sitting there for about 10 minutes, the counselor come out and asked everyone to come on back. She is the group the leader for this specific class. We then went into a very large room and were asked to sit anywhere we would like. I would say that this room held at least 60 chairs that were in a circle. These meeting were normally just our family, but this time it was everyone else and their families also. There was an opening in the front of the room, where the counselor would stand with her easel. The recovering addicts of the room seemed at ease to be there, but I could tell that everyone else seemed to be a bit nervous.…

Some people came together, and some alone. The majority of them walked, while a few drove. The chairs were placed in a circle with a table in the middle. Snapping out of my trance, I gasped. My taxi was coming in, looking at the clock on the wall, 6 minutes and counting. Shit. Making my way out of the tiny room…

I awoke to the sounds of birds singing, and the light shining through the window of my bedroom. I opened my eyes and stretched my pale arms towards the ceiling. As I put on my slippers, I thought to myself, “today is going to be a good day.” And went downstairs to get breakfast. I hummed to the tune of one of the many songs I had heard on the radio as I made myself a bowl of Frosted Flakes.…

I was at my new school, sitting in my fourth grade classroom, filled with buoyant children and buzzing with the energetic noise of their talking. I could hear all of the voices of those at my table clearly. I could see their lips moving along to the sound of their voice, forming words. However, I could not understand what they were saying to me. At that moment I felt like I was watching a movie on mute. As much as my classmates attempted to make me a part of their group, I was still a spectator among them.…

Finally it was time to go in to the meeting. I had walked in there and I saw a fake tree in every corner of the room, and a circle of chairs right smack in the middle of the room. There was a table against a wall that had coffee and snacks on it if we got hungry, or thirsty. We all sat down in a circle as a group. The instructor introduced herself, and told us how much she appreciates us all here with her. She then gave us the topic of the night. The topic was “What you are improving in your life?” After she had told us about what the topic of the night was going to be, she asked that we go around the circle and everyone say there name, and why they are here. Every time a person said there name and why they were here, everyone said…

My first day of college went a little like this. Coming in as a freshman I was scared and nervous. I arrived at a small building consisting of two floors and about 20 classrooms. I wasn’t really worried about getting lost, but how can I get lost in a small building anyways. After rooming the hallways for a few minutes I head to class. My class was an average of 22 students. I walk in to take a seat; it was so quite I was able to hear a pin drop. It took me by surprise when some one finally spoke. He began talking about the class they had…
