Thank you for your interest in the policing strategies of the 2nd Division. I will do my best to answer your questions. First, I do receive, review and evaluate ShotSpotter information in the coverage areas on a continual basis. However, I do not use this information to predict future shootings because the vast majority of shots fired are not associated with a violent criminal incident which makes it difficult to determine when & where the next shooting will occur based upon that one data set. The value of ShotSpotter, in my opinion, is it notifies officers in a timely manner and serves as a reliable indicator of where the shots are coming from. This allows officers to respond more quickly, enhances their safety, and increases the likelihood of an arrest/ evidence collection. As you know, the evidence (shell casings) collected taken to the Crime Scene Unit and ran through NIBN. NIBN is a valuable tool which helps us establish links between when and where many of these guns are being used. Secondly, the majority of the shots fired data indicated by ShotSpotter on…
Anyone can place a service or product on the Market, consider the “Pet Rock” of the late 1960s early 1970s. Marketing sold an item that is found in everyone’s yard and made a fortune. But was it a lasting endeavor? It faded like yesterday’s rain! Then consider the Frisbee, an item still being sold decades after its emergence in the market place. Track record, duration, and profitability will be the best measure of the company.…
If the court applies the doctrine of stare decisis in the case where the members of AOL that got their information mistakenly made public are filing a suit again AOL then the court would not dismiss the suit. AOL is arguing that its forum-selection member agreement states that Virginia courts are the place where member’s disputes will be tried. However, according to the Supreme Court a forum-selection is basically irrelevant if it contravenes with a strong public policy. Stare decisis means that the court must uphold prior decisions. And in the state of California, courts have declared in other cases that the AOL clause contravenes a strong public policy. Therefore, if the court applies stare decisis the suit will not be dismissed and the members of AOL can continue with their case against AOL in California.…

This report is based on the development of The Washington Opera especially its “world-class” strategy. Between 1995 and 1998, the trustees of TWO established three steps. This case analyzes its “world-class” strategy and problems it brings. It appears that TWO’s first two steps were almost successful, but its ambitious developments resulted in financial problems when processing the third step.…

Participant observation can be completed both overtly and covertly, and it depends on which method is chosen to which strengths and limitations occur. There are many variables to be considered when choosing which method of investigation should be chosen to be acted upon. Such things as; is it likely the researcher will be allowed into the group willingly, is the subject of the investigation likely to be openly expressed by the people involved, are there any ethical issues that could occur and put a negative effect on the interviewee, and which method will receive the best results. Many sociologists choose the method of participant observation due to being able to gain qualitative data which will incidentally obtain more valid results because then the true actions of the group being studied can be revealed.…

Qualitative research is designed in such a way that it reveals a target audience and range of behavior along with the perception that is related to a specific topic or issue. The research method utilizes in-depth studies involving small groups of people to provide with guidance and support to the construction of hypothesis. The results obtained through this method of research are descriptive rather than predictive (Burns & Grove, 2011). Following are the main types of qualitative research that differ from each other.…
Electoral College is the process which was brought up by the founding fathers. The founding fathers made it recognized in the constitution as a compromise, between election of the President by a certain number of votes and by a popular vote of qualified citizens. A controversy would be for Electoral college would be Samuel Tilden and Rutherford B. Hayes. In this election it proved that Tilden won the popular votes. Later the Commission voted and settled that Hayes was the winner. This comes to show that Electoral College doesn’t work in anyone’s favor.…
The primary research strategies used in social psychology are descriptive, correlational, and experimental research .The goal of descriptive research is to portray what already exists in a group or population. Unlike causal and relational studies, descriptive studies cannot determine if there is a relationship between two variables. They can only describe what exists within a given population. An example of descriptive research would be conducting a survey to find out people 's attitudes toward a particular social issue such as divorce, capital punishment, or gambling laws. Social psychologists use correlational research to look…
Response: Mr. Gomez tends to over analyze potential problems. The problems I foresee are Gomez takes extra care to see all invoices are checked twice, he monitors for neat desks, he takes twenty minutes of his morning to check punctuality, and he even tries to make his employees feel he cares by remembering birthdays and anniversaries. It seems to me as he has a micro-management problem but being over 5 people who have up to 10 people to oversee is going to be a little critical to Victor Gomez’s hands on approach. He is going to have to let them assist him and all the inability to delegate authority, responsibility, and accountability to other people such as his five section supervisors could help eliminate some of his problems.…
