What are ethics and how do they pertain to an online college student? To understand ethics students have to understand ethics. Ethics are a personal decision to do the right thing or to knowingly do the wrong thing. Students nowadays live in a digital age where information is readily available to them, especially in the online environment. Students have resources that empower them to find out almost anything on the internet to complete a task that is assigned to them. An online student committing plagiarism is a recurring manifestation in the classroom; the ethics of students is continuously changing because of the information available, and how they retract that information by using it for their research. How students utilize their morals is entirely up to them. A students upbringing plays a vital role on how they utilize their morals as an adult; even more so when they decide to go to school to expand their education and personal morals. All students want to achieve the best grade possible, especially if they are paying for school. Unethical students will take any means necessary to achieve the best grade possible. Some students will ask their peers to write papers for them. Meanwhile, other students will just copy and paste from a webpage without properly citing a source. Students who perform this way are choosing to be unethical because they are submitting information that is not theirs without giving credit to its proper
