Introduction:
The Banana (Musa Paradisiaca) is a great source of potassium, the banana is not just ‘any fruit’ you could eat any time of the day you can also use this to whiten your teeth but what if there is another use for this banana? This is what this study is for; to exploit how useful a banana could be, not just a kind of fruit but something to make you tidier, like shoe polish. Shoe polish or boot polish is a waxy paste, cream or liquid used to polish and shine shoes to improve the footwear’s life and restore, maintain and improve its appearance
Background of the study:
This study aims to show:
How can bananas be turned into shoe polish
Why bananas are the ideal fruit for shoe polish alternative
How can banana shoe polish be eco-friendly
- How can bananas be turned into shoe polish: To make banana shoe polish, we first melt candles, while in a low fire, combine the kerosene & extract of the banana peel with melted candle , after stirring the mixture, let it cool & harden thus making shoe polish(source: Dost’s website) although rubbing the inner side of the peel is also efficient.
- How can bananas be an alternative to shoe polish The bananas can be an alternative because of its potassium and oils thus making your shoe shinier.
- How can banana shoe polish be eco-friendly Using a banana as a substitute can help the environment by reducing the amount of plastic containers thrown.
Statement of the Problem:
The shine on the banana shoe polish must last longer than 24 hours to limit the amount of bananas used, however we must also consider the fact that we cannot simply use 2 bananas to shine the shoe but make or find a formula for banana shoe polish close to the chemical shoe polish
Significance of the study:
This study will benefit the following people:
The students
The students can use this to learn how to clean their shoes in an easier and eco-friendlier way.
The Researchers
This study have benefited the researchers by helping us understand how useful a banana can be.
The Future researchers of this study
This study can help the future researcher(s) to learn more about the usefulness of the banana when it comes to tidiness.
Hypothesis:
The shine of the shoe using banana peel shoe polish is the same as that of a chemical shoe polish. the longetivity of the shine using banana shoe polish is longer than that of a chemical shoe polish due to its natural content.
Scope and Limitation:
This study was based on the development of an alternative product for the chemical shoe polish the scope of this project is:
1.) The chemical component wont go away but big part of the formula for the shoe polish will have more eco-friendly raw materials
The limitation of this study is:
1.) We wont know if the target market or people would accept the idea of using an alternative shoe polish other than the product they know now.
2.) We cannot make shoe polish without supervision as it would use kerosene

Like food coloring, a small amount goes a long way. Simply melt your color along with your wax flakes. Warning: The color will look a lot brighter in the melted mixture but will turn a milky color as it cools.…
