Opening Prayer for Graduation
Let us all be mindful in Gods’ loving presence as we all say, In the name of the Father, and of the Son , and of the Holy Spirit, AMEN
Blessed Creator and sustainer of life,
We come to You on this joyous day with our hearts lifted to You.
On this campus, on this gymnasium, we are confident that You have loved us.
Only you know the path of life that has brought each person here, and we thank you for directing our steps and intersecting our lives for a brief but shining time. We have met opportunities and faced challenges that have shaped who we are today. Please use the wisdom we have gained as a blessing for others. May we always listen for the whisper of your grace as we move through our lives. May we find inspiration in the beauty and whimsy of your creation, and may we never lose the love of story you have woven into our very souls.
Lord, on behalf of my schoolmates, I ask you to electrify this sacramental rite of passage as we graduate from Santa Rita College and commence the rest of our lives.
We ask that you energize this celebration so that each of us feels the significance of this important milestone.
Lord, we stand here today filled with gratitude.
We are grateful for the constant support and love of our families.
We are grateful for the lifelong friendships we have formed, and that have formed us.
We are grateful for the faculty, staff, and administrators who have challenged and inspired us to learn, to love, and to serve.
A simple “thank you” just doesn’t seem to adequately express our gratitude.
And after this ceremony, we ask you to set our SRC experience in the corner of our hearts.
Lord, let this day echo into our bright future, animating us to receive and retrieve these graces.
As we leave the comfort of Santa Rita College, we ask you to help us retain the confidence that Your love will always be with us.
Help us to maintain the desire for Your love as we continue to be men and women for others.
May we always want and choose what

It was a regular day. Cleaning, cooking, caring for the young. Displaying and obeying the role of a women. I longed for some excitement. Alast, in September 1864 I thought I found the excitement I felt so deprived of. Confederation. The thought of being involved in something important was splendid. I thought of different ways I could intertwine my knowledge to support the idea of confederation. Although I was in favour of Confederation, I didn't have the political right to broadcast my opinion. Being a women had its cons. No matter how effective my words were, they didn't matter. Mens words would always overshadow mine.…

The McDonald’s hot coffee case occurred on February 27, 1992. Stella Liebeck, 79 year old woman, took McDonalds to court for being burned by hot coffee she purchased. While the car was not moving, but said to have been stopped at the time, Stella had the McDonalds cup of coffee between her legs and as she tried to open the lid the cup tipped over and burned her. This incident caused third degree burns on 16 percent of her body; she was hospitalized for eight days, had extensive skin treatment, skin grafts, and permanent scars and became disabled for two years. By corporate specifications, McDonalds is required to serve coffee between 180 – 190 degrees, while the victim’s coffee was 185 degrees, and coffee usually made at home is 135-140 degrees. In the past, 700 McDonald’s customers were burned before this incident, including third degree burns.…

“The Centers for Disease Control estimated that 732,000 American children were saved from death and 322 million cases of childhood illnesses were prevented between 1994 and 2014 due to vaccinations” (“Should Any Vaccines”). Although a number of vaccinations are required for children entering the public school system, no federal law exists for students entering school; instead, it is the individual state’s decision to require vaccines (“Should Any Vaccines”). The idea of mandatory vaccinations infuriates some people because they feel vaccines should be a personal choice, however, government involvement in the public’s health serves as a preventative for children and everyone around them. Even though risks may exist, vaccinations allow for safety to prevail in society. For the small percentage of people who can not be vaccinated due to an existing disease or an allergy to the ingredients, the vaccination of those who are able is a safe and cheap way to keep the minority healthy without causing many adverse reactions.…
