It is on this note that staff and students of Auntie Margaret Memorial High School embarked on a glorious moment to invite important dignitaries, parents and students from various schools to grace the very first (Maiden Edition) of her annual inter-house sports competition held at the U. J. Esuene sports stadium on the 12th of march 2010.
The event started at about 11.00am with an opening prayer by Pst. Richard Ojong. This maiden event was graced by very important personalities including Mrs. Jennifer Bassey-Duke (Principal/CEO, AMMHS), Dr. Inemesit Akpan (P.T.A Chairman, AMMHS), Prof. Offiong E. Offiong (Hon. Comm. for Education was represented), Chief Raymond Obeten (Hon. Comm. for Youths & Sports), Dr. Effenji Odey (Perm. Sec. Ministry of Finance), Mr. Etta Uso (Perm. Sec. Ministry of Youths & Sports).
Shortly after the introduction of dignitaries present by the masters of ceremony - Mr. Mesembe and Mr. Emmanuel King, the parade ceremony commenced with the Principal/CEO, P.T.A Chairman, AMMHS and the Hon. Comm. for Education (represented) taking a parade tour round the gorgeously dressed paraders. It was a spectacular and colourful event to behold. This proceeded with the taking of oath by the school games prefect and the sports official, Mr. Archibong Archibong Inyang.
The Principal/CEO's opening speech came to everyone with mixed feelings. She pointed out that this day concided with the death of her late brother, who died on the 12th of march 2000, exactly 10 years ago.
