Many people wanted to keep things the way they were while other thought that it was unjust for people to be segregated by law. The supporters wanted everyone in the nation to have equal opportunities and rights and thought that no public place should be allowed to segregate based on race. The people that opposed the law still believed that most, if not everything, should be segregated by race. They thought that it would make the country better if people stayed with their own race. The backlash by part of the nation would not go away for this event was the event that started the civil rights movement. In my opinion this is not only one of the most important events in the 1950s, but one of all United States history. On the date it was passed the United States took another step forward in the world of equality. After the set back of the Jim Crow laws and the ‘Separate but Equal’ act, the decline of government racism began. This case started the snowball effect for the civil rights movement. That is why I think it’s one of the most important events in United States
