It is an natural chemical based PCM having nominal freezing temperature and melting temperature of almost 28⁰C to 29⁰C. It is capable of storing thermal energy as latent heat in its crystalline form. When it changes its phase, this latent heat can be released or captivated, allowing the ambient temperature contained by the system to be sustained. It is made up of the precise mix of a mixture of additives allowing symmetry between solid and liquid phases to be obtained at the melting point. OM 29 has ostensible freezing temperature of 290C which is a temperature that makes it supreme for many heating or cooling thermal energy applications. Some of its prominent features are that OM 29 is chemically and thermally stable and noticably it is a

In this experiment two solutions were prepared for two kinetic runs. Solution #1 (50%ethanol 50% water) and Solution #2 (40% ethanol and 60% water) was added to another Erlenmeyer flask. Next, 0.10M of NaOH was filled up to the 0.00ml mark in two 50-ml burettes. Placing the flask containing solution 1 on the magnetic stirrer and clamp a burette containing 0.10M of NaOH above the flask. The two kinetic runs will be carried out one after another. A stir bar was placed into the flask containing solution #1 and 3-5 drops of phenolphthalein indicator solution to the reaction flask. To start the reaction, 4.91x10^-3 mol of alkyl halide to the stirring reaction mixture. The timer was started at the instant of this reaction. When enough HCl formed to neutralize the NaOH that was initially added, the pink color turned clear. The time was recorded.…

The social wasp Polybia paulista protects itself against predators by producing venom known to contain a powerful cancer-fighting ingredient. A study published this month reveals exactly how the venom's toxin called MP1 (Polybia-MP1) selectively kills cancer cells without harming normal cells. MP1 interacts with lipids that are abnormally distributed on the surface of cancer cells, creating gaping holes that allow molecules crucial for cell function to leak out.…

1-1. HISTORY Military history reveals that armies throughout the world participated in some form of drill. The primary value of drill, historically, is to prepare troops for battle. For the most part, the drill procedures practiced are identical to the tactical maneuvers employed on the battlefield. Drill enables commanders to quickly move their forces from one point to another, mass their forces into a battle formation that affords maximum firepower, and maneuver those forces as the situation develops. a. In 1775, when this country was striving for independence and existence, the nation’s leaders were confronted with the problem of not only establishing a government but also of organizing an army that was already engaged in war. From the “shot heard around the world,” on 19 April 1775, until Valley Forge in 1778, Revolutionary forces were little more than a group of civilians fighting Indian-style against well-trained, highly disciplined British Redcoats. For three years, General George Washington’s troops had endured many hardships—lack of funds, rations, clothing, and equipment. In addition, they had suffered loss after loss to the superior British…

Potassium hydroxide is an inorganic compound with the formula KOH, commonly called caustic potash. Along with sodium hydroxide (NaOH), this colorless solid is a prototypical strong base. It has many industrial and niche applications. Most applications exploit its reactivity toward acids and its corrosive nature. In 2005, an estimated 700,000 to 800,000 tonnes were produced. Approximately 100 times more NaOH than KOH is produced annually. KOH is noteworthy as the precursor to most soft and liquid soaps as well as numerous potassium-containing chemicals. Other names are Caustic Potash, Potash Lye, Potassia or Potassium Hydrate.…
