Oprah Winfrey: The Power Of Well-Read Women
A well-read women is educated, informed, open-minded, and influential. There is an old saying that states, “Knowledge is power.” That applies to both male and females. Women have an internal instinct to understand people. This enables them to see the motives behind a person’s actions. Honestly, women have the power to manipulate others. If they are well-read and informed they can use their powers to easily influence others. A really good example of a well-read and influential woman would be Oprah Winfrey. She has been a popular television host over the last two decades. She has used that platform to reach millions of people. This could be considered a good or bad influence. It all depends on who you decide to talk to. Many people see her
almost as a spiritual leader. If Oprah endorses a product it instantly becomes popular. Also, it makes a lot of money. Over the years she has endorsed people that she respects. They have become very famous. Some examples would be Dr.Phil, Suze Orman, Dr.Oz, Nate Berkus, Gayle King, and Rachael Ray. All of these people were shot into fame. The American people trusted and accepted them because Oprah endorsed them. Oprah used to have “Oprah’s Book Club”. Every book that was included in this became famous. Barack Obama was the first political candidate that Oprah endorsed and he won the election. He ended up serving two terms in office. Oprah Winfrey has supported many social causes. Some include: Red Cross, Women for Women International, Women in the World Foundation, and the ALS Association. A well-read woman is able to help so many other women accomplish their dreams. She opened the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa. In December 2000, she visited Nelson Mandela and pledged to build a world class school for girls in South Africa. She accomplished her goal by breaking ground for the academy in 2002. The doors were opened in January 2007. She was determined to help these girls and she was able to do that. Her span of influence was so great that Fedex contributed 80,000 dollars to her cause. I used Oprah Winfrey as my example, but there are so many more women I could have used. They were all well-read, well-educated, and informed. Some have used their power for good and some have used it for evil. Everyone has their own opinion on the matter.
