1.0 Executive Summary
With the advent of social media, some argued that this new emerging tool might be useful in improving knowledge sharing which is readily available to anyone within a click. It might also build social capital, support innovations and improve its ability to aid problems faced by multinational corporations which could be effectively done through social media.
However, there is still a lack of literature to understand how and what might be the contributions of social media in creating and managing high performance of knowledge sharing, building social capital, supporting innovations and aid in solving problems.
This essay is intended to theoretically investigate associated risks and benefits of social media to multinational corporations and how do they optimize and collaborate their business at a global level through social media. In any research analysis that we made these days, it has to come with laying down the pros and cons.
Multinational corporations need to keep themselves abreast with the current trends especially in this media age to create and maintain a culture of knowledge sharing across the organization, building social capital, support innovations, and to increase efficiency and efficacy in brainstorming for solutions when encounter with problems. Social media could also optimize the marketing investment within an organization.
