Oreo's Cookie Analysis
The article, A more svelte Oreo will tempt the cookie's traditionalists, written by Washington Post was about "milk's favourite cookie", Oreo and their new cookie, Oreo Thins. These sandwich cookies are expected to be, "slightly wider and just a little over half as thick as the original wafers," according to Washington Post. The new design is interesting because the cookies are created to be consumed straight from the packet, instead of being twisted, licked and then dipped into milk like the original wafers. These new wafers are 7 calories less than the original, but are not meant to be eaten as a diet cookie. Oreo thins are will probably make a lot of profit, since Oreos are, without doubt, the most widely purchased cookies throughout history. …show more content…
Not only do they taste good, but Oreos are also used to enhance the taste of other foods. You many have walked into a store and see Oreo-flavoured ice cream, or a cake with crushed Oreos sprinkled on top of the icing, or you may have walked into a cafe and see Oreo flavoured ice cappuccinos on the menu. These are all examples of different food companies using Oreos to make their product better. Customers are also attracted to Oreo's intricate and distinct design. "People are also drawn to Oreos because of the familiarity they offer," says the Washington Post. It's true because if you ever see a cookie with 2 dark brown cookies, with a layer of white cream sandwiched in the middle, you immediately know it's an Oreo. Mondalez International, the company that owns Oreos, provides many variations of the original cookie. Allowing customers to have a wide variety to choose from. Some of these variations include the Golden Oreo, which is rather popular among Oreo fans. Others include Watermelon Oreo, which is less popular and comes to stores in different seasons. Oreo Thins are the newest cookie to join the Oreo family and hopefully it won't be the last addition to the world's most popular cookie brand,

Based on the ratio analysis performed, it appears that the Hershey Company’s liquidity is sufficient to meet cash needs and current obligations. The current ratio and current debt coverage ratios were decreasing from 2002 through 2004, which corresponds to an increase in short-term debt and a decrease in cash on the Company’s balance sheet over the same periods. Hershey attributes the increase in debt to corporate consolidations, capacity expansion, and modernization and efficiency improvements. Outside of the increase in debt, accounts receivable turnover and average days’ collections appear to be steady, which indicates that Hershey is able to effectively manage its receivables and employs effective credit policies. The Company’s inventory ratios also indicate stable levels of inventory size and turnover. Despite the fact that Hershey appears to be shifting to reliance on short-term debt to fund current liquidity needs, the Company’s overall liquidity position appears to be stable.…

Everyone remembers going around as a child for one night of the year dressed up as his or her favorite ghoul or storybook character and returning home with a sack full of delicious candies. There were always a variety of candy types, but most of these candies were usually made by two of the major companies in the industry. The Hershey Company and the Tootsie Roll Company were both well represented on this night. Both companies made so many different types of candies for young children to enjoy that the names would forever be imbedded in their minds. These treats were not just for the children, but for the children in all the adults as well. Taste and memories alone are not good enough for the companies to have had as long a tradition as the companies have indeed had. Both of these companies have had financial success due to their good business practices and well structured companies. They are financially sound machines with a wonderful history in the home as well as the market.…
