Human resources policies and procedures are important to an organization because it enables the workforce to clearly understand individual and team responsibilities. Due to the vast geographic expanse and logistical challenges of this new program, Down East Spud Busters should make some improvement regarding to the company’s human resources policies and procedures.

Selection Selection is the process of obtaining and using information about job applicants in order to determine who should be hired. Human resources department is responsible for selecting the right person in doing the right jobs. This can make sure each of the employees meet the job requirements. For example, Down East Spud Busters should make sure their employees clearly understanding their work range and not over using their position power due to the vast geographic expanse and logistical challenges of the new program.

Performance Appraisal According to Bateman and Snell, performance appraisal is defined as the assessment of an employee’s job performance. This can encourage employees to work better in their jobs for future. During appraisal, employees also can discuss the strengths and weaknesses with their managers which can allow employees to identify what skills they are lack and need to be improved. Down East Spud Busters should do this appraisal for their employees to let them more understanding about the sales market and achieve the market goals.

Training and development Training defined as the attempt by an organization to change employees through the learning process which able them to perform their jobs as efficiently as possible. Development is learning activities which designed to help the individual employee grow who are not confined to a particular job. Training helps to increase the workers’ productivity, job satisfaction, up-to-date skills and knowledge, and also helps to motivate the workers.
