ORGANIZATIONAL RESTRUCTURING FOR WHITLAM MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
INTRODUCTION
Health care organizations are complex and dynamic. These organizations were created to achieve the goals that were beyond the reach of any single individual. However, some healthcare managers are appointed to position of authority where they shape the organization and help them run smoothly. But providing health care services on large scale for the whole community is not easy. For things to run smoothly, services effectively and patient satisfaction these organizations must undergo changes with time to meet the demands of growing population. The design planning and organizational strategy are the vital factors influencing the adaptive capacity of an organization and their survival in challenging environment. But there are a variety of factors that affect design planning and strategy of an organization these factors are divided into internal and external environment (Madden. J. et al 2006). An organizational structure must comprise of different sections and departments concerning different specialties or functions with the primary goal of contributing to the success of organization. The plan of adding new specialties, increasing bedding capacity from 130 to 250 creating more community-based clinics and looking forward to switching to new organizational structure is very important and relevant for Whitlam Memorial Hospital to meet the demands of growing …show more content…
Given above is a proposed structure for WMH.
There will be a Unit head who will lead the team of individuals working continuously to figure out the best ways to train staff timely, in improving employee-boss relationship and looking after health and safety of all WMH employees. Then, there will be an Administration Head who will check the security team and will be reported by the medical records department in relation to all the patient history records. He will also be responsible for managing finances for the hospital and will be supported by finance team. His team will deal in all the inventory cost, wages and profit-loss statements for the hospital. The Material head is the person who will lead the team of individuals who will ensure that all the medical supplies are up to date and there is nothing short in the hospital for all the specialties to run smoothly. Next, there will be an Engineering department head who is going to lead the team of engineers and technicians checking all the equipment’s and the machinery making ensure the all the patients are provided with the best diagnostic and treatment
