Western’ interest and motivation on the “Orient” or Eastern-based cultures regions is an unstated, and perhaps unrecognized motivation to exploit the region and in doing so, enrich the west.

They are not just come to a region to improve lives and share beauty but what is important for these multinationals is the profits. They might provide employment and pay taxes but they also merge and acquired local competitors and bring tension and even monopolize in certain industry based on their solid capital and multinational giant headquarter.
Just look at the Iraq War in 2003. The American military aimed to find the weapons of mass destruction, bring democrats and human rights to the region and to maintain the world peace.
