RAWAL INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY, FARIDABAD.
ORIENTATION PROGRAMME: 17 & 18 AUG 2012.

ADDRESS BY DIRECTOR-RIET.

Good morning to all present on this auspicious occasion of Inception Programme of first year B Tech students who are entering the arena of engineering professionals with big dreams and high ambitions.

On this day on behalf of RIET I heartily welcome Honourable Minister of Haryana Government – Madam. Sharda Rathore as the Chief Guest and Sr VP of Airtel – Shri S K Sharma as the Presiding Guest of Honour for today’s function. I also take this opportunity to welcome Chairman of Rawal Institutions – Sh. C B Rawal, Vice Chairman – Sh. Mukesh Goel, President – Sh. Mahender Goyal, Vice President – Sh. Anil Rawal, Director (RIM) – Dr. Bimal Agarwal, the fellow members of the teaching fraternity, dear students and their parents.

I congratulate once again the fresh engineering aspirants for choosing a career which is based on good understanding of the basics and applying this knowledge for creation of new products which are better, faster, cheaper and user friendly. When innovation gets added to creativity the new product thus created belongs to the next generation. As mentioned by Prof. Chaggar, this path of learning engineering skills is not that rosy. Your time management, hard work and intelligent efforts after four years will determine whether you become just one more engineering graduate or an engineer who is remembered for his creations. If you really wish to learn the engineering skills then you have to dirty your hands in labs, workshop and industrial training.

One more thing I would like to add here that if you have chosen your engineering discipline or the branch according to your own liking and conviction, and put whole hearted efforts to convert your discipline to your passion, I can assure you that you would not require to work for rest of your life!!! It’s amazing that when one follows his passion, he forgets

Individuals take engineering as something distance to their lives due to rigorous courses to get through. As some would say that it is not worth it, other clever individuals have figured this out. To be a chemical engineer, an individual explores and takes on other sciences to create important products to better peoples lives. As Mark and Sherri Devaney stated, “…Chemical Engineers are charged primarily with finding ways to put science and engineering principles to work…” with their purpose being, “…to help corporations and organizations create useful, cost effective products that will benefit consumers…”.(pg. 43) As it was brought up earlier, to be a chemical engineer, one must apply other subjects and fields. It is typical to begin these processes earlier in life. “High school students interested in chemical engineering should take all of the mathematics and science courses that their schools offer.” As explained by Ferguson. Everyone has the ability to become an engineering student, whether decent or horrendous the type of student each individual becomes depends on the effort and attitude they demonstrate towards their academics. Their attitude should also be reflected on the work they do outside of classes such as the organization they are a part of or the job the student has. The common misconception of becoming a world class engineering student is that it only involves academics which is wrong, since having good grades is not the only reason why a company will hire a student. It involves much more than that, however it’s not difficult to become a world class engineering student if students are well rounded in all aspects of their life such as their social life,…
