Although some critics might state that the design is the least impotant aspect of the theatrical performance, the design, which includes lighting, sound, and costume, is a key element in the success of the production. As a former light technitian of my high school drama department, I learn that lights is a key aspect of the production because it enhances the mood making a intense scene extra fierce with red lights or making it calm with blue lights. The lights are key in order to be able to hide certain entrances and exits. Sounds is needed to make the characters audible and cue sounds unable to be produced by actors. Costumes are needed to establish the time period of the piece as well as the initial impression of each characters. But I did not get this appreaction of design until I became a stage tech.…
As soon as I entered the theatre, it was completely packed. I also saw many people from different age groups; this gave me a feeling that the show would be entertaining enough to get people from all ages to come and see the show. The environment of the theatre was very formal, as there was a red and gold layout and it was also very clean.…

Last week we went to the Phoenix Theatre in Leister Square to see Blood Brothers. When we walked into the theatre, I noticed that the proscenium arch stage was slanted which put everything on the stage in perspective. There was no live orchestra, and all the sound travelled easily throughout the room as it was quite a small theatre. Before the play, I had been told that the story was based in Liverpool and I had high expectations as it is one of the longest-running musicals in the West End. Behind the gauze, I could see the backdrop which was mostly grey and had houses and other buildings on it. It looked as if the scene was set in the heart of Liverpool. Due to the artwork on the programs, it was obvious that this production would be about the life of two brothers, and the different ways in which they grow up. The use of the clasping of hands symbolised a forbidden or unlikely friendship between the different classes that there were at this time.…
The first moment of theatre I chose to stage is when Cyrano and Christian went to go see Roxane in the middle of the night. This scene prior to this moment was very important. Roxane and Christian sits outdoors and Roxanne ask Christian to tell her how much he loves her and he tries, but all he can say is “I love you” “I love you very much” and Roxanne gets infuriated and went inside the house. This was the closest thing to the book exemplifying some type of truth.…

From September 12th to October 4th, the Buddies in Bad Times Theatre are presenting the public with the mesmerizing play The 20th of November. The Toronto-based theatre gives thanks to BMO Financial Group, the lead corporate sponsor for the 2015-2016 year. The performance, running in just over an hour, grabs the audience along for a ride as it breaks down the troublesome thoughts bottled within the mind of school shooter Sebastian. Sebastian, played by Sina Gilani, shares the problems he has towards society, his troubling childhood memories, and the disgust towards people, especially those within his school. The outstanding production of The 20th of November successfully showcased the reality of the stigma of mental disorders through the character…
The technique which we a focusing on in our HSC course is ‘Verbatim Theatre’ which is playwright that interviews people that are connected to a pacific topic that the play is focused on and uses their testimony from accrual recorded counts to construct the piece of play etc. In this way they seek to develop a degree of authority akin to that represented by the news. Such plays may be focused on politics, disasters or even sporting events. Verbatim theatre has a method of transforming real events into a theatrical version; a great example is the play “the Laramie project” by Moises Kaufman, which he have heavily assessed and examined.…
Imagine standing in front of a crowd, the heat from the light is becoming uncomfortable, the legs begin to wobble and lines are forgotten has the audience looks on. Picture what it would look like and feel like on a stage performing. This is what the actors at Stebens Children’s Theater sometimes experience. Stebens Children's Theatre was first created in 1984 and it first was named “The First Act”. In 1988, it later changed into the Stebens Children’s Theatre that exist today. The Bertha Stebens Charitable Foundation purchased the building that Stebens is located now. It puts on productions, tier classes, and workshops that teaches kids about the basics of acting it also teaches workshops about the advanced skills in acting. Stebens Children's…

In “The Homecoming” Pinter uses the language shown in the play as a way of it not to be trusted, however what they are thinking to themselves is what should be trusted. Thinking past what is actually being said and the meaning behind it, will uncover what the character is trying to say. The language throughout the play is a game being played by the characters using it to get at each other. The way they are polite to one other is their version of taunting and being horrible to the other person.…
