The documentary “Bowling for Columbine” is an award-winning documentary directed by well-known filmmaker Michael Moore. The film won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, as well as an Independent Spirit Award, a Cesar Award and many others. This bold movie criticizes America’s large number of gun related deaths annually compared to other countries around the world. He discusses why America seems to have such a problem with violence and how it has led to tragedy’s involving firearms like the imfamous shooting at Columbine high school in Columbine, Colorado. Since the Columbine shooting in 1999 there have been other school shootings that seem to closely resemble it, such as the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting and the recent 2012 Sandy Hook…
Tragedy looms above all, striking at the most inopportune of ocassions before sulking off into the unspecified realm of dark situations yet again. It has no preference for a certain variety of victims; to seek and destroy is the only goal with matter. Such is the case of the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting on December 14, 2012. With fear then cast into the community of Newtown, Connecticut, and all of America, it may only be said that tragedy is received in the massive doses of heartache, despair, and a continuing aura of hopelessness, and with these feelings combined create an even more volatile feeling of misanthropy. This misanthropy hurts not only the person wielding it, but the others who may also express not as extreme feelings of misunderstanding. This unbearable, and, to some, unforgivable, act at the hands of a mentally unstable murderer is more of something of an inspiration of others to heed the calls of newfound hope in humanity, emphasize national mental health awareness, and the techniques utilized to prevent gun-related attacks.…
Problem Statement: The response to the shootings in Columbine could have been handled more effectively if there was a solid coordinate effort from law enforcement and emergency units in the area. The plan of action to prevent the incident from playing out further was hastily put together and only cost more lives at danger. All possible lines of communication whether it be from law enforcement officials, emergency personnel or even the media for that matter, were contradicting each other and inaccurate in their details. Information from witnesses, victims and Columbine school officials also proved to be unreliable in this terrorist act. Their accounts of what…
Last night in Orlando one of the most violent, horrific and abhorrent acts of a mass shooting took place in American history. Like everyone in the country, I am devastated about the horrific events that have taken place in Pulse.…
In 1995 the term "school violence" associated with frightening images of terrified children running a school building where his classmates had been shot. Highly publicized shootings at schools drew nationwide attention to little known places like Pearl, Mississippi; Paducah, Kentucky; Jonesboro, Arkansas; and Springfield, Oregon. In 1999, the Columbine High School became the most famous high school in the United States because two boys were in a shootout, killing 12 students and a teacher before he committed suicide.…
On December 14, 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut, the day had started out as any normal school day at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Until raging twenty year old, Adam Lanza, simply walked right through the front door killing twenty-six people. The Sandy Hook shooting on December 14 devastated many parents, children, and even people that were not linked at all to the shooting. There have been plenty of devastating school shootings, but this shooting has caused many schools and even businesses to crack down on their security and take more precautions to ensure that something like this does not happen again. It even caused the president to question the second amendment and even try to repeal it. This has caused tons of controversy in America.…
The attackers were immigrants so, that conflicted immigration to be linked to terrorism. The immigration laws which is the Homeland Security Act have been way more strict on border control so that Illegals won't be able to come into America to cause trouble and affect lives of Americans. When I heard about the Newtown incident, I felt really bad for all those innocent children and teachers. Since Newtown is pretty close to Shelton, everyone was scared and talking about it. A lot of people stopped feeling safe after this. Our school reacted to this incident by locking all of the entrances to the school. I was very confused on why that man would do such a thing and I couldn’t stop thinking about it because it was all over the news. It’s a scary thing to think that something like this could happen so close to where you live.…

Mass shootings in the past year have been plentiful, with at least 3 mass shootings per week. To me this is just outrageous. I didn’t even know it was near that many mass shootings that I haven’t even heard of.Before the second day of October we have had 294 mass shootings, including the first day of October! These shootings have to stop and when they do happen I feel like everyone should know about this tragedy that keeps recurring in our country. Many shootings happen daily and only a few make it to the headlines or are major on social media. But all of these shootings need to be stopped or we need a new way for people to protect themselves at all times in case of a shooting.Last year there wasn’t even eight days that went by without a shooting…
