teeth, and of course help obtain a healthy, beautiful smile.
Most often jaw problems, also known as malocclusion of the teeth, include a person's upper and lower jaws not being the same size or are malformed, resulting in an overbite or in some cases an under bite.
It is normal for all upper teeth to fit slightly over all the lower teeth, but when there is excessive protrusion of the upper jaw from the lower jaw this is called an overbite. On the other hand, when the lower jaw protrudes forward causing the lower jaw and teeth to extend out beyond the upper teeth this is known to be an under bite. Certain injuries to the jaw can also cause a shift in the alignment. It is also important to be mindful that these issues can start at an early age and some ways of preventing it is to take care of children’s oral health before it becomes an issue. The main source of this problem comes from “thumb sucking, tongue thrusting, pacifier use beyond the age of three, and prolonged use of a bottle.” If certain issues don’t get stopped early some problems can come up in the future making it hard and painful on the patient. So it is important that if there are issues such as straining the teeth, jaws, and muscles, or an increase of broken teeth to see an orthodontist as soon as
possible. There are many reasons why a person’s teeth grow crooked and twisted. In some cases people's mouths are too small for their teeth, which crowds the teeth and causes them to shift and turn where is needed in order for them to develop. If the teeth are misaligned they wont be able to work to their full potential causing interference with proper chewing and issues with maintaining clean teeth. If teeth are not brushed properly than there is an increased risk of tooth decay, cavities, and gingivitis. Misaligned teeth all start from the loss of either a baby tooth or an adult tooth. An attractive smile is an important asset when wanting to look and feel your best. A smile is one of the first things people notice and can create a positive impact on the people around. Some may say that smiling gives off the same satisfaction as chocolate and sleep does to the body. It contributes to self-esteem, self-confidence and self-image. These are important qualities at every age. A pleasing appearance is a vital component of self-confidence. It may also improve a person’s general attitude toward life. Behind every smile is a unique and important individual.
